Philosophy/Heritage

The initial offerings within River Rim Ranch continue the legacy and heritage that will be Teton Valley's Grand Tradition. The Greg Norman Signature Course, the Teton Rim Golf Club and the Sporting Club at River Rim Ranch offers the outdoor enthusiast a recreational lifestyle all within the shadows of the Grand Tetons.

The Master Plan for River Rim Ranch is driven by four interdependent philosophies including:

  1. Protect and preserve the habitat values of the Teton River canyon.

  2. Create a legitimate and sustainable agricultural legacy for the Ranch consistent with the historic farming stewardship.

  3. Carefully accommodate and adapt residential homesites and amenities to the Ranch in an aesthetically passive and environmentally respectful articulation.

  4. Adhere to the rigorous requirements of the Agricultural Planned Unit Development criteria within the regulations of Teton County, Idaho which require a minimum of 75% open space and allows no more than 25% developed area.

The Master Plan for the Ranch meets the demands of these philosophies. The entire stretch of Teton River and river canyon area has been set aside and protected as open space. This area will serve as the major amenity for River Rim with trail access for fishing, sightseeing and hiking. Essentially, the river canyon and river bottom area will be preserved as a park resource with flyfishing and golf being the premier recreational activities.

The Ranch has historically been used for irrigated crops including grains, potatoes and hay. Currently the Ranch is in a native grass crop and is hayed. The several large Farm/Ranch Conservation Units have been specifically created as individual properties for private ownership that will sustain legitimate agricultural use over the long term.
